A modern Product Information Management System to accelerate the distribution of high-quality nutritional ingredients for food manufacturers worldwide.
Challenges & Solutions
Our client, a leading distributor of plant-based ingredients, needed a centralized system to manage their extensive product catalog with detailed nutritional and functional properties. We built a custom Product Information Management System (PIMS) featuring powerful search capabilities and an intuitive interface, transforming how they manage and share product information.
Product information was scattered across multiple systems and documents, causing inconsistencies and inefficient workflows. **Solution:** We created a centralized PostgreSQL database with a well-structured data model that accommodates all product aspects while maintaining complete version history for tracking changes.
The products contain numerous specialized properties that were becoming difficult to manage in a consistent, structured format. **Solution:** We designed a flexible JSON-based schema with validation rules that captures detailed nutritional, physical, and sensory characteristics in a structured, searchable format.
Different stakeholders required different views of product data and various export formats. **Solution:** We developed an API with advanced filtering, sorting, and search capabilities alongside a dedicated export module for generating customized reports for clients and internal teams.
